Meet Monique

Hi, I’m Monique Towner and I have been a Reiki therapist since 2013, whilst managing my own consultancy business. Since my initial level of Reiki training, I’ve always been drawn to working with animals and have found that this is where my healing path and passion lies.

I’m a qualified Reiki Master Practitioner and a member of the UK Reiki Federation, with full insurance through Balens.

I live near Whitby in North Yorkshire and spent many years living in Lancashire, with a few recent years in Cumbria. My Client base historically included horses and dogs in Lancashire and Cumbria but is now focused on North Yorkshire.

Over the past few years, as well as practising, I’ve been volunteering with Racehorse Rescue in Carlisle http://www.racehorserescue.org.uk/ and RSPCA dog kennels in Milnthorpe, Cumbria.

I am attuned into a type of Reiki known as Usui Reiki and this ensures that we can show full traceability through our teachers back to the original Reiki master himself in Japan, Mikoa Usui. I work alongside your vetinary surgeon, providing complimentary healing therapy.

My Reiki journey started by chance, while I was looking to learn something different and new, that wasn’t to do with my routine day to day consultancy business. Just something for me.

I came across Reiki and after completing my first degree level, I spent almost 2 years doing self-healing. It was this self-healing work that made me a massive believer in the benefits of Reiki. I call it inside-out-healing and it’s perfect for emotional de-cluttering. From there I completed my second degree level and started to work on animals. Volunteering has been amazing and lovely to give something back to the rescue centres that we couldn’t manage without. Reiki is very calming to those animals suffering anxiety in the rescue centres.

I’ve also spent time giving Reiki to cows when I’ve been out on my walks. They are so sensitive and love the energy, particularly when you become a familiar face around them. Since being attuned to Reiki Master Practioner, I’ve also continued my learning in holistic therapies, including crystals and have so much admiration for all the healers out in our communities. It’s certainly the future in my opinion.
